Last year we raised $15,800
The goal this year was $20,000.
We exceeded that with the recent collection of donations to the Paul Stafan home for unwed mothers.
$24,875 was what we raised.
Tom Herbert came back from his new home in Front Royal to help.
This fraternal year we will raise donations for A Best Choice.
XIII. OLD BUSINESS
1. Budget – The proposed budget was submitted at the last business meeting in June and revisions were made.
The adjusted budget was emailed out to members last night.
There are a couple of minor changes in the document distributed tonight.
The clergy appreciation account has been reduced to $1,700 from $2,000.
Each priest and the deacon would receive $300, up $50 from this past fraternal year. The pastor continues to receive
$500.
And the amount allocated to Manor Care Bingo is $300 instead of $200. We have donated $300 for bingo prizes this past
year.
The estimated operating deficit is reduced to $287 with those changes.
Jesus Cota had a question on why we are giving $500 each to several youth groups. It totals more than $3,000.
Bill Cormier said we have given these groups this amount of money in the past. Challenge and Conquest use the money
for summer camp. It increased when they started participating in Lenten meals.
Former Grand Knight Brian Tumulty said that he asked these six youth groups to serve the six Lenten meals two years ago
and they did it again earlier this year. Two years ago, they received over $700 each and this year they each received $530.
Jesus Cota asked why so much. There are other groups we could give to.
Brian said the Knights at the national level have asked councils to focus on parish activities.
Mark Z. said the new donation amount will be $500, which is less than it was the last two years. He is willing to work on
fundraising dinners for any group that wants to raise money.
District Deputy Ruper Harmon said that the nearby Family of Man Council identifies a group to donate to for each parish
breakfast and will receive $2,000 in contributions.
Jesus Cota said next year we should identify other organizations to donate money to.
Financial Secretary Bill Cormier said we have money in our accounts that we can donate to worthy causes.
Bruce Jacobeen said that many of the children who participate in the Challenge and Conquest youth groups come from
large families and are home-schooled.
Dennis Stone made a motion to approve the budget as amended in the document distributed to Brother Knights attending
the meeting.
Brian Tumulty seconded the motion.
The vote was unanimous.

And if the parish also wants one, we can purchase one for the parish and a second one for the council.
The shed was a mess and Anthony cleaned it recently. He wants to keep it clean.

We will have an ice cream social on Aug. 20, the day before the parish school has its back-to-school cookout.

all present.
1. COR program – Bruce Jacobeen spoke about the new Knights program called COR.
According to the Knights national website, “The mission of Cor is to refocus Catholic men on Jesus Christ and to form and
strengthen them in faith and virtue through a brotherhood committed to prayer, formation, and fraternity. The goal of
each Cor gathering is to provide the opportunity for men to encounter Christ, to pray together, to be formed in their faith,
and to strengthen their bonds of brotherhood, preparing them for courageous leadership and the mission of
evangelization for their families and communities.”
Tom Yehl said that COR is designed for any man in the parish and should be open to anybody.
Mark Searle said that as the council’s new lecturer, he plans to present some monthly nuggets from That Man Is You at
our monthly business meetings.
Bruce said you need to go to the pastor for permission to start a new program. TMIY starts in September. He suggested
going to TMIY. It has changed over time. There are no videos.
Bruce added that this weekend on July 15 we have a men’s conference here at St. Timothy with some great speakers.
